Two versions of this hymn are available:

2) using the more traditional tune associated with this hymn: here.

(Note: The more traditional tune (#2 above) is perhaps more familiarly associated with this hymn. The other version however (contained in the hymnal) has much to commend itself: this music is “with repeat”, and thus makes a way for the last lyrics of each stanza to be emphasized. Concurrent with the repeat, the music has an excellent drive, build and crescendo at the same place. This can be very effective in every stanza, but particularly in the last, where the writer uses the text from Hebrews 13:5: “,,, for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” In the original language this contains no less than five negatives, and thus is clearly being emphasized by the Holy Spirit. The musical drive, build, repeat and crescendo therefore seem to go hand-in-hand with the emphasis that the Spirit of God Himself desires to make at this particular point.
