30.  The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

The frailty of our present condition, common to all (Ecclesiastes 9:2, 11), was not in the wise man's eye; but the state of the two classes as in the purpose and mind of God. His way is strength to the upright. The righteous, walking steadily in the way, shall never be removed. (Psalm 15.; 37:22; 112:6; 125:1. 2 Peter 1:5-11.) ‘They enjoy in this life by faith and hope their everlasting life.’ “No weapon that is formed against them shall prosper. The mountains shall depart, and the little hills shall be removed: but my loving-kindness shall not depart from thee; neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed; saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.” (Isaiah 54:10.) Is not this a confidence, that earth nor hell can never shake? (Romans 8:38, 39.)
The wicked — have they any such confidence? So far from being never removed, they shall never inhabit. They have no title, like the righteous (Matthew 5:5. 1 Corinthians 3:22), as sons and heirs, to the blessings of earth; no hope or interest in the land, of which the earth is the type. (Psalm 37:29.) Often are they cut off from inhabiting the one. (Verse 27; 2:22. Psalm 37:22. Ezekiel 33:24-26.) Never will they be suffered to inhabit the other. (1 Corinthians 6:9; Revelation 21:27.) As our character is, so is our hope and prospect. We gain or lose both worlds.

Ecclesiastes 9:2, 11
2 All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath. 11 ¶ I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

Psalm 15:
1 ¶ {A Psalm of David.} LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? {abide: Heb. sojourn} 2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. 3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. {taketh...: or, receiveth, or, endureth} 4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. 5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

Psalm 37:22
22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.

Psalm 112:6
6 ¶ Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.

Psalm 125:1
1 ¶ {A Song of degrees.} They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.

2 Peter 1:5-11
5 ¶ And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. {barren: Gr. idle} 9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
